Global Medic-Assist is a division of EMT Utah

Mission: To provide participants the best possible experience by ensuring wellness through a safe and healthy experience while in remote destinations.

The purpose of Global Medic-Assist is to provide certified medical personnel  to accompany non-medical humanitarian expeditions outside the US.

What We Do: Global Medic-Assist sends certified and prepared medical personnel on each humanitarian expedition. Supplies, first aid, an AED and other emergency medical equipment accompanies the medics who travel with these groups. Working side-by-side with participants on the local project at hand, Global Medic-Assist personnel also is there in case someone grows ill or suffers from some debilitating injury. Having Global Medic-Assist accompany participants on these expeditions brings peace of mind to those on the trip and those they leave behind.

Who are we? We Are local Firefighters, Paramedics, and AEMTs working full time in emergency medical care who donate our time and skills on the expeditions.

Our first partnership is with CHOICE Humanitarian, whose “vision is a world free from the ravages of extreme poverty, where all people are treated with dignity and valued for who they are and the unique contribution they bring.”

Who They Are: CHOICE Humanitarian – ‘The Center for Humanitarian Outreach and Inter-Cultural Exchange’, is a strategic non-governmental agency (NGO) currently working in seven countries, Kenya, Nepal, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Guatemala and Mexico. Their overriding goal is to end extreme poverty and improve quality of life through a bottom-up, self-developing village-centered approach.

How They Help: One way they help these countries end extreme poverty is to offer expeditions to these countries. CHOICE Humanitarian expeditions work two ways. Participants connect with villagers. Villagers connect with participants. In the process a dynamic emerges that helps push poverty out of our lives.

The Need: An issue that confronted CHOICE as they take small and large groups to these countries was an increasing awareness that having trained medical personnel was important to deal with issues related to safety, medical support and back up. This new partnership satisfies that need.
