***JUMP TO TOP***–***JUMP TO CNA TOP***

6) How do I get my CPR certification with the discount?/When do I need to take CPR?
It is not technically required for CNA students to obtain CPR certification; however, almost all facilities that hire CNAs do require it. The type of certification that almost all facilities require is the Basic Life Support CPR.
Once you register for a CNA class, you will register for their Basic Life Support CPR class separately on the same website, just like you did for your CNA class. We confirm on our end that you have completed enrollment and paid at least the deposit (*check Zoho*), and then we give you the coupon code. On the payment page of enrollment for the BLS CPR class, you will enter the code into the coupon code box and it will take $10 off and bring the price from $50 to $40. Coupon code: BLS2017 (All capital letters, no spaces)

7) What to bring on first day of class?
– Notebook, pens and pencils, a calculator, a blood pressure cuff and stethoscope and a watch with a second hand for taking vitals.
– The school sells watch ($10) and BP cuff and stethoscope ($40). You can purchase these online at registration checkout, from the online gear shop in myUtahCNA, or in class.
– Must wear scrubs in class and to clinicals. Long hair must be pulled back away from face.
– Facial piercings and tattoos DO NOT need to be covered in class, but may need to be covered at certain clinical sites.
– Students may bring food to eat in class (no utensils, plates, bowls provided).
– Only water in class (bring their own water bottle)

9) Clinicals
– 24-hours of clinical rotation time is required and included in the program.
– Generally divided over three days. Occasionally scheduling restrictions require students to complete clinical rotations in two 12-hour shifts.
– Schedule: usually 5:30am – 2:00pm or 1:30pm to 10:00pm.
– School schedules these hours in conjunction with availability at long-term care facilities.
– Clinicals may be scheduled during class or may change depending on site’s availability.
***JUMP TO TOP***–***JUMP TO CNA TOP***

10) Testing & Testing Fees
– To be a CNA, a student must complete an approved CNA program (like ours) and pass the NATCEP the Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program.
– What is the test like? The test has two parts. First part is a skills examination and second part is a written examination. Student must perform a set of Vital Signs during the Skills Examination and perform five (5) selected skills from the approved state list of nursing skills. The written examination consists of one hundred (100) multiple-choice questions. You must score 75% or better for a passing grade.

– Cost: written exam is $35.00 and the skills exam is $40. Total $75.00. Fee is not included in your tuition and is paid to the Utah Nurse Assistant Registry directly.
– Testing is arranged directly with the UNAR.
Testing Pin

– **If the student has paid for a testing pin but have not yet received it, they will need to talk to the program administrator or assistant. Take a written message and have the appropriate admin staff contact the student as soon as possible.**

It is $5 per testing pin, but students are required to purchase two pins for testing. This is why the testing pin price is $10; it includes two pins.

We don’t offer financing in house. But there are ways to pay tuition over time. One option is to register for your class in advance, and pay only the deposit to reserve your spot. At that point, you are welcome to make as many payments of any size as you want, right up until the first day of class when all the tuition is due. Make payments on our website via the Student Payment Portal by logging into myEMTUtah.
There are also outside options for financing:
– We have a deal with Mountain America Credit Union, where they provide financing for our students’ tuition.

10) Missing Class/Remediation
Students can miss up to 8 hours without having to make up time, although making up the time highly recommended. Any time missed beyond 8 hours must be made up. Students are authorized to miss no more than 16 hours TOTAL. To make up time, you attend remediation, which is held intermittently throughout the course. Attending remediation DOES NOT reset missed time. Students can not miss more than 8 hours total regardless of attending remediation.

11) Renewal of license/Recertification/CMEs

– You will need to call the state Bureau of Emergency Medical Services (BEMS) if you don’t know precisely what hours you need to fulfill. We can’t access that information since we are not a state entity. BEMS number is 801-273-6666. Once you know what you need to do, we can help you obtain CMEs in several ways based on your needs:

-Several of the classes we offer fulfill certain hour requirements. We can direct you to the correct class based on your CME needs.
-If you need CMEs that are not satisfied by our classes, you can sit in on currently running EMT classes on days where the topics fulfill your needs. You will need to set up an appointment with the EMT Program Director or Program Assistant Director and they will personalize a plan for you and inform you of class schedules.
– CME Pricing is based on hours needed. It is $195 for 35 hours or fewer, 36 hours or more is $295.
