This is a 142-hour Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course that prepares graduates to function in the pre-hospital environment and to sit for the EMT exams. Included is the textbook, bandage kit, classroom instruction in basic skills and in life support care of sick and injured persons including airway assessment, communications, documentation, general pharmacology, hemorrhage control, ambulance operations, and splinting of adult, pediatric, and infant patients; and special care of patients exposed to heat, cold, radiation, or contagious disease.
Utah EMT’s take their training and certification to a higher level with the Advanced EMT program. Employment options and compensation is often better for Advanced EMT’s. Classroom and hands-on training prepares graduates for the Advanced EMT state exams. With high pass rates, this is an excellent choice to enhance your skill set so you can climb the ladder of success in the EMS industry with the Advanced EMT Program at EMT Utah. Our EMT and Advanced EMT Continuing Medical Education (CME) program is an inexpensive way to earn your CME’s that all EMT’s and AEMT’s need to re-certify with BEMS. ACLS – PALS – PHTLS
ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support, PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support and PHTLS – Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support are often required for Advanced EMT’s, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and physiciants to work in the field. Adding these certifications to your resume enhances your employability and enhances your skill set.
Peripheral IV Insertion
Peripheral IV insertion is both art and science. In this 8-hour course, students learn the best techniques for starting an I.V. and learn by practicing on real people – participating in at least 5 I.V. placements (usually many more). Students learn about equipment, types of fluids, administered drip rates and more. The Peripheral IV class enhances skills. Become an expert yourself.
Human Cadaver Lab
The human cadaver lab offered by the EMT Utah and the Institute of Human Anatomy provides a rare opportunity for participants engaged in or seeking a career in health care such as a an EMT, AEMT, Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Respiratory and Physical Therapist, CNA and Medical Assistant to learn anatomy by examining a human body in its most vulnerable form.
The Career Building workshop is held each week at our Salt Lake Campus and is available to any student or graduate who is looking for work or those who want to learn more about how to increase the value of their resume. It is a comprehensive workshop that includes tips on resume and cover letter writing, Ob search skills, interviewing techniques etc.
